7 weeks!

How quickly time flies.

The pups are now seven weeks old and I am deep into the "who goes where" game. This is definitely the hardest part. I am so attached to these pups and I want everything to be perfect. Oh, the advantages of having a smaller litter.

Kate is still nursing, and Nugget is still the full time parent. I take them out on one on one trips now. When we get back Nugget goes over each pup with a fine toothed comb. Then they EAT him!! He is also the full time teacher now. They are quickly learning not to use their teeth on him. He does not put his mouth on them, but head butts them and puts his body on them for a very brief time. Once subdued he cuddles them and cleans them, and they snuggle up to him. It is really amazing to watch. I often wonder how he even knows how to do it. Kate has no part of the rearing stuff. She goes in, feeds, cleans, and is out. Nugget goes in and I have to drag him out. He looks great, although could drop a couple of pounds. It must be that new father weight gain thing. He is very content, and very wise. This experience has only made me love him more; and I didn't think that was possible.

I will not announce who is going where, until the new families are settled in with their pups and make their own announcements first, or send pictures and let me know all is good for posting.

That said, I will say that Ginger is staying and will share time, and ownership, with both myself and Wiccan. Ginger will be in the show ring. She has it all, at this point. The best of both in the looks department. I can't believe how lucky I am to be able to watch this girl grow and develop. Wiccan will work her magic in the socialization department. Ginger went and met some of the store employees yesterday and promptly put her "stamp" (both kinds) on the shop floor. Oops; sorry about that. She will also remain "Ginger" and I am working on her registered name.
